Spotlight Model: Jacqueline Perez

Meet Jacqueline Perez

I am 19 years I am in Miami, Florida at the moment I am planning to go back to Europe asap that's where my heart is :) My family is Spaniard and Italian. Before modeling I was put into ballet and other forms of dance for many years. I think it's helped me so much with modeling you are really in tune with your body. It helps during those long hours of shooting when you have to do awkward posing, use lots of movement or when you have to really express yourself through your body. To me modeling is a form of dancing and acting combined and if you do both things right when captured you give a strong feeling and emotion behind to the photo.
Other than modeling I am working on becoming a designer and a stylist that's what I'd like to go into as well. My grandmother and mother have been sew since I can remember. My grandmother has designed for Donna Karen, Levis, Bejeweled just to name a few. I have it in my blood! So you can say I have passion for clothes and every aspect that goes behind the making of a them. Seeing a designer finished work and being able to become their life size vision of what they have worked so hard to see gives me great pleasure. So for that I am lucky & so happy to be able to be part of that.

When did you fall in love with modeling?
I have always been into fashion mags... I remember when I was small my mom would have tons of fashion magazines every where especially Vogue. She would get ideas on clothes she'd like to make or to see what was in style for the season. I'd always be going through them even if it was the same magazine I'd look through the same editorials over and over again every time I would see a photo that really captured me I'd be like wow this is beautiful i want to be there I wish I was her. haha I really started to get into modeling after one of my cousin suggested I should get into it. She pretty much took me to her agency, to see a photographer and some castings when I was 13 and I loved it. It hit me right there that I'd want to pursue it.

If you could work with anyone, who would it be?
If I had to choose just one it would be Karl Lagerfeld he's just a visionary his clothes are everything a girl could of ever wanted. As me and one of my friends would say I fashion love him actually if there is a word stronger than love for how much I feel about his work I'd use that haha He just would really inspire me it would be an honor to work with him. If I could choose more than one a couple more would be Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, Victor& Rolf, Miuccia Prada, John Galliano, Versace, Gucci and Roberto Cavalli .

What was your most accomplished moment and shining glory?
I have to say my most accomplished moment and shining glory would have to have been my first time in Milan I got experience photo shooting with a lot of different photographers that helped me change as a model they helped guide me and mold me. It was a really big growing and changing process for me. I think the traveling I have been able to do while pursuing my career is an accomplishment on its own. I know most of my friends haven't even left Florida before and haven't been able to go explore the world and be able to live in a foreign place and experience its culture .

Please give your advice to someone who wants to pursue your career?
Some advice I would give is to never give up. You might not be right for someone but that doesn't mean your wrong for everyone. This is a tough job people think it's really glamorous and yeah it has it has it's glamorous parts but it's a job and with that said if you really want to be successful you should treat it as that a job. Long hours shooting, months being away from home, keeping yourself in shape, having clear skin, sometimes not getting enough sleep cause you are constantly going and being able to take the constant judging/ criticism with out losing yourself or taking it personal it's harder than it looks doing all these things. In the end everyone only sees the end results but its the behind the scenes moments that people should stop to think about when you are pursuing this as a part time or full time career. I also would say keep humble don't let things get to your head and treat everyone with respect, courteous and thankful. Most of all have fun doing what you love, soak in all the good times and enjoy everything modeling has to offer. Travel travel travel and make lots of new close friends some of my closest and best friends have been through modeling they become your family :)

How would a close friend describe you?
A Dreamer, Passionate, Creative, Outgoing, Positive, Determined, Happy, Caring, Driven, Kind haha I think those are some they would say to describe me :)
