Just in time for summer, Lila Nikole Collection formerly A Swimwear debuts two new collections that are perfect for the beach or poolside for that summer soiree.
Known for her bold use of color and sexy silhouettes, Lila Nikole Collection is designed by Lila Nikole Rivera, a native of New York City who currently resides in South Florida where she is constantly inspired by the international flair that resonates throughout Miami and South Beach.
Pop the lid for our exclusive interview with Lila Nikole Collection Designer Lila Nikole Rivera regarding her new collections, her style inspirations and who she’s dying to see rock her bikinis on the beach this summer.
Bossip: Where are you from originally? Where did you grow up?
Lila Nikole Rivera: I am originally from Queens, NY but my heritage is Puerto Rican. I have lived my life back and forth between NYC and Florida.
Bossip: What inspired you to go into fashion design? And specifically into designing swimwear?Lila Nikole Rivera: My mother is truly the creative one who inspired me to design. Swimwear just kind of stumbled into my lap, I found something I was good at and saw an opportunity to make a lucrative business out of!
Bossip: Who are some of your favorite swimwear designers?Lila Nikole Rivera: Hmm well I have one and that is Rosa Cha. He uses impeccable detailing and accents for his ultra creative designs. He is the Roberto Cavalli of swimwear.
Bossip: What are you two latest collections?Lila Nikole Rivera: My latest collections are Liquid Bliss and Golden Rage. Liquid Biss was all shot underwater using very bold candy colors and pops of other wild elements. Golden rage is all different shades of metallic gold, bronzes and coppers. Each accented with various type of metals or jewels.
Bossip: What inspired these two collections?Lila Nikole Rivera: Golden Rage was inspired by my trip to St Tropez. The valley of glitz and glamour. The essence of women insired my designs. Liquid Bliss was more of a fun and playful collection. Going back to the origins of just having a great time at the beach or pool.
Bossip: Who is the LNC woman?Lila Nikole Rivera: The LNC woman is a very strong fashion forward leader. A woman is comfortable in her own skin and has embraced her curves and silhouette. She is a woman who demands attention when she walks into a room.
Bossip: Who are some of the celebs you’ve dressed or styled?Lila Nikole Rivera: Kim Kardashian, Keyshia Cole, a bunch of America’s Next Top Models models and TrinaBossip: Who are some of your style inspirations? Models, celebs, designers?Lila Nikole Rivera: I like Rihanna’s punk glam style; that is me all day. I also like the sensual grace of Eva Mendez; she is very elegant yet carries a fierce and classic style about her.
Bossip: What are some of the new things coming up for Lila Nikole Collection? W Hotel- Ft. Lauderdale etc..?Lila Nikole Rivera: I am the fashion champion of the W Fort Lauderdale. I will be designing the swimwear/ costumes of the performers for the Grand Opening. I am also designing a signature suit that will be carried at the store that embodies the essence of The W brand.
Bossip: What are some of the obstacles that you face as a swimwear designer? Distribution? Marketing? Publicity? Sales?Lila Nikole Rivera: My greatest issue would be locating the appropriate manufactor that can give product in a speedy time with excellent quality. Other than that it has been a pretty swift and smooth ride.
Bossip: Who would you love to see wearing your swimsuits?Lila Nikole Rivera: I would love to see Rosalyn Sanchez, Jessica Biel or Eva Mendez rocking some LNC pieces.
